Believe it or not, we are halfway through january (what, already?). So, how are you doing with your new year’s resolutions? If one of your goals this year is to get more fit, this tips are for you. Not all of us have the money (or time) to sign up for a gym membership, and maybe you do but sometimes you only have a few minutes a day to get a workout and the gym is just too far away, maybe you just feel lazy… there are a million reasons why working out is just not happening for you, and whatever those reasons are, here are some tips to get your fit on, for free.
Drink More Water
So simple, yet so hard. Just ditch all those sodas and sugar filled beverages for plain old water. You’ll see the results in no-time. You will feel more energized. If you want to take this to the next level: carry a re-usable water bottle (be nice to the environment) everywhere you go. Cheers!
Whenever you can, take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park you car farther than usual so you get to walk more, you can even ditch your car when you have to travel short distances. Next level: Make a hella-good playlist on your phone or your favorite music streaming app and go for a walk or run around your neighborhood, you can even take your dog.
Workout At Home
There are a lot of different ways for this one, my favorite one is… youtube videos. You can find any kind of workout imaginable, you just have to find a place in your house and press play. My personal favorite is Cassey Ho from Blogilates. She provides you a completely free monthly workout calendar, in which she tells you exactly which of her videos you have to do every single day. All you need is a mat or a carpet. Next level: Make some space in your daily agenda and dedicate an hour a day for workouts (and actually do them) for a month, you’ll feel amazing.
Use Your School / Apartment Gym
This is very self explanatory. Do your research and find out if your school or apartment building have a gym of its own, most of the times they do and the best part if that you can use it for free (it’ already charged in your tuition or rent).
Play Your Favorite Sport
Just call some friends, meet in a close-by park that has a basketball or football field, bring a ball and have fun! You will have a lot of fun and a great workout. The best of both worlds.
Believe In You
You might have access to all the gyms in the world, but if you don’t have motivation you will not accomplish anything. Wether you want to loose/gain weight, get fit or simply get more active, none of this tips will work if you don’t believe in you. When you’re working out and you feel like you’re dying (that would be me), just remind yourself how amazing you will feel when you complete the workout session, what will happen when you keep doing that for a week, then a month, then a year? You can do anything, just believe in you.
