We know it’s fall because the leaves start changing colors and falling off trees… actually you’re lucky if you get to experience the fall foliage first hand, sadly you cannot experience the change of seasons so vividly everywhere. We know it’s fall because you can snatch a pumpkin spice latte at your nearest Starbucks, everywhere.
I love fall, in fact, it might be my favorite season. The weather it’s not too cold, but cold enough to snuggle in your favorite oversized sweater, drink a cup of hot chocolate and watch Netflix as if the world depended on it.
When it comes to colors, fall has always been characterized by shades of brown, orange and green… until this season. Fall 2017 has some unexpectedly colorful surprises, without leaving the traditional hues aside.
Let’s start with this season’s favorite, yellow is the color of daisies and the sun; a vibrant shade that expresses positivity and liveliness. There’s a million ways to rock this color, but my personal favorite are sweaters. You can always pair an oversized sweater with a skirt. Tip: Use over-the-knee boots to complete the look.
You don’t know how many times I’ve heard that “red is only for the bold”. In my opinion, this assumption is wrong, everybody can pull red off, in fact, it’s a very flattering color that works with most skin colors. Tip: if you’re scared to try red, you can start by adding small pops of color to your outfits, like a purse, a scarf or a pair of ankle boots.
Who would have thought that pink was going to make it to the fall? Since last year, pink has been present in most seasons, specially in the pastel shades. The thing that I love most about pink, is that you can use it in every single situation, from a blazer you would wear to a formal event, to a skirt for a night out. Tip: try to go for basics instead of statement pieces, this way you’ll be able to mix and match with items that you already own. You can always go with denim for a more relaxed look.
Saying that I love green would be an understatement. This particular trend has been going strong for around three years, and it shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. An easy way to rock this color is with a militar green bomber jacket, it goes with everything, but I almost always end up pairing it with my favorite white sneakers.
Burgundy is such a classic fall color that never gets old. It’s easy to find any piece of clothing in this shade during this time of year. Wear it with confidence using a long coat or a skirt; you can even go for the monochrome trend and wear burgundy head to toe.
